Does mcMenamin have a realistic chance of winning? I'm definitely concerned about the views expressed by the competition, but with Arlington I'd be surprised if a Dem didn't get the spot by default. Is there enough support to convince other Dems to vote McMenamin?
I think discontent with the way the current board operates is opening the door for non-Democratic candidates.
I wish Arlington residents would vote for their best interests instead of blindly voting hit anyone with a 'D' after their name for County Board like they've been doing for 30+ years. It's such an ignorant way to vote. 3 candidates all have 'affordable housing' as their platform--yet talk to any resident and that is at the nitro of their list. Schools (overcrowding) Loss of major commercial residents (Marriott, Defense, etc) and big commercial vacancies Increase crime. More homeless shelters and a huge increase in affordable housing is not what residents want so don't vote for the Democrats--it's their agenda and they are shouting it from the rooftops. McMenamin (Independent) has my vote most likely.
The tough thing is there are two seats. Who is the second pick? Dorsey?
I'm a NP, also a lifelong Dem who will probably vote for McMenamin. I think I would put Dorsey as my second pick. Someone is going to get the seat, and I would prefer him to Cristol. I feel like Cristol is pushing harder for AH, and Dorsey at least has small kids, so I feel like he will be somewhat attuned to what is going on in the schools. I don't think schools are even on Cristol's radar.
