Don't worry. This post is the first time I've ever heard anyone say (err write) anything bad about Asheville. Ever. It's a lovely place and "dirty" would never cross my mind. I'm guessing pp is not much into arts or "hippies", of which Asheville has a good number. :)[/quote]

NP here.  I went to Asheville a few years ago, and while I certainly did not dislike it, I didn't love it either.  I don't recall it being dirty, but it was a little seedier than I had expected.  I suppose that the town itself just wasn't as scenic as I had anticipated.  I was envisioning more of a pristine, outdoorsy Colorado town, and it wasn't like that at all.  The scenery around the town is absolutely, gorgeous, however.  I would go back, but with adjusted expectations.  [/quote]
