Show the world someone who wants to be a cop and the world will see someone with the highest propensity for being a douchebag with terrible self esteem and self worth. "I'll be a cop and I'll show the world how great I am!" and then cry about the danger. We all wished we had super powers when we were young. A gun and complicit gang of friends, other cops, is as close as one can be to being that elusive super person... but then the absolute super power absolutely super corrupts. Wanting to be a cop is in itself an admission to having tendencies to be a bully, a desire to control, a narcissism uncontrollable. Let's insist that all cops be paramedics with a four year university degree too, and watch the change from bully to public service happen and sweep through the ranks. Make the "code of silence" what it is... a crime. It makes the silent cop who witnessed a crime done by their partner an accomplice to a crime. Yet the cover up is the the status quo. Make lying on the stand as a cop a 10 year felony. Make evidence planting or tampering a 20 year felony. Make lying about shooting someone a capital crime. Mix and match partners every day to flush out duplicity. Make being a cop a four year public service maximum and then a year must be taken off and work as an EMT or paramedic (since they will already be one) before a second 4 year term can be served - unless one is able to move up in the ranks. Certainly throwing 14yo girls to the ground is NOT what a mature person of service would want to do. If you do not want to move up in the ranks, then your done after your second 4 year term. Being on the street for 8 years as a cop says something about an individual who would want to do such a thing. Certainly you can move on to another city or precinct, but 8 years is plenty in one place. If your living for the thrill, you are not the one who should have the job of a cop. It's not a thrill. It's a job and it needs to be done by someone who can handle it. Getting all ramped up by kids to the point of drawing a gun on unarmed minors who showed no evidence of being armed is exactly why all the cops are getting a bad name. I am very surprised that there have not been marches and protests against bad cops by cops of valor. We need cops; good ones; smart ones! Not punks with a gun.[/quote] THIS!!
