Actually, I cringe every time I listen the lyrics of this song---I think it's pretty insulting to many Africans, who, while they may be poor, DO know what Christmas is. Also, Bono's line about being glad it's them and not us makes me cringe too---I'm a little surprised that he was willing to sing that line.

I think you missed the point. It's hard to "know it's Christmas" when your days are no different and there is Jack Shit under the tree that you don't have.
