Because we're not scared off by incorrect assumptions that people have of us. We realize that language evolves and don't wish to invent another word for ourselves simply because it scares people when there's already a perfectly good word for us in everyday language already.

Also, the picture of the Horned God that a poster posted is not the only way that God looks. My favorite facet of him is the Green God:
