I'm also a transplant and have to agree that the older neighbors that I have that have been here a long time are some of the best people I have ever met, unpretentious, amazing people, who have done truly amazing things.  I feel poorer than everyone here because like the PP stated you get response emails about where they have been, where they are going, etc...[/quote]
