It appears she was monitoring herself. Monitoring =/= quarantine. I do not expect US hospitals and staff to be experts in an infectious disease that has never been here. That is the CDC's responsibility. The CDC should have set up regional centers with space suits so that they could be distributed when a case appeared. They should have conducted training and required all hospital staff to attend. They should've been clear about how ebola is transmitted. By not planning properly, they caused unnecessary panic and are responsible for the transmission of the disease beyond Duncan.
Oh please. Ebola isn't something new. Not here before but as a medical professional she has a clue. Unless she was living under a rock she knows how irbid transmitted. She knows that if she is monitoring herself for a fever it is because they are concerned she could be have been infected. Nothing about that says I should get on a plane. Even if she didn't know about Evola before and hadn't ever treated a person with Ebola don't you think she would have done some research? Simple google search? Talked to coworkers? she had a clue. Again, it was inconvenient for her to cancel a trip.
Western doctors and nurses are trained before heading to Africa to treat ebola patients. I don't think it is too much to ask for our doctors and nurses here to be trained as well on PPE. Personally, I prefer my doctors and nurses to be trained by experts instead of Google. According to at least one report linked to in an earlier post, the nurse was not aware of a fever before flying.
