So what is your point ? That man is 50 something he came up in a time when society and probably his family used the term mentally retarded. Mental retardation is a real condition. We have since learned better ways to refer to people with that condition. We have terms that have not been turned into pejorative , an insult. We have terms that don't focus on what some may view as a handicap. 
If she used the term, realized that was not the way to go, and corrected it by re- writing, good for her. 
And don't try to say it is the same as calling a black person a nigger. That word was never used to describe a medical condition, it was always intended as an insult!!![/quote]

What a sanctimonious know-it-all.  Ree Drummond and her brother Mike are 18 months apart.  Ree's 44.  Okay 44 years +/- 18 months does not equal 50.
