Pumpkin here reporting in. There is only one pea in the pod!!!! I was like "dude, you're sure, right? There could be no surprise, right?" Thanks for the info interloper. I had ultrasounds every single appointment with my first and I know that the midwives do far fewer. One practice does not do an early ultrasound, but Wisdom does, though if you wanted to you can decline it. That's what I was trying to say. I got the abdominal, no problems seeing the pumpkin. So, no "special" for me. Dang! I mean, not dang. So the heartbeat was there, right on track, and my measurements were 8 weeks 6 days, (I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow according to LMP) so everything seems completely normal and good. Met with the midwife, who was awesome. My appointment lasted for about an hour, she really was super involved and caring. I was really happy with the practice so far and think Wisdom was a good choice. And JinDC, no nutritional strictness! She said the diet is a guideline, and if you're eating something similar, it's okay. That it's only meant to be taken literally if you don't know how to eat for nutrition. And I admitted to cookies on my 24 hour diet log, but she never even looked at it. So, WHEW! I'm so glad that's out of the way. My husband was really bummed. this is the first appointment he's missed, but he's our primary child care and we haven't told our son yet, (just in case, waiting until the risks seem more palatable to reduce the chances of having to tell him if a problem came up) and all feels really well. Anyway, DH was sad he missed the ultrasound. Those with other kid(s) when did you tell the others? I may start a thread on the forum about that - just wondering how others with young kids approached that. On the one hand, I'd like to almost wait until like 20 weeks, so it doesn't seem like so much time has to pass before the baby he'll be waiting for gets here, but on the other hand, it will probably be noticeable before that, and if I have to take him to appointments, which I sometimes will, it will be hard to do that without telling him. He's just old enough that we can't get much past him anymore (3.5).
