Budgeting is tricky.  A lot of stuff we bought used or got from friends, and I buy almost all of our daughter's clothes from consignment stores.  We were super lucky to avoid childcare costs for the first year by rearranging our schedules--and thanks to understanding bosses and a lot of very late nights.  I'm planning to transition to PT work after the new baby comes, but will likely be able to earn the same or a bit more.  I'm anticipating a few lean months when I'm not working at all in the beginning, but then we should be okay.  So, I'm hoping that a combo of reduced childcare for our older daughter (cheaper when she turns two) and the PT will mean no additional childcare costs, at least for the first year.  And like wavy said, you do just make adjustments and live a more streamlined life.  There is so much in this area by way of free or cheap entertainment, it's great to take advantage of.[/quote]
