There is a lot of racism on all sides in MCPS and the county. Many of the Wootton protestors are community members with young kids or much older with kids out of the school system if you look at the pictures of the protestors so its hard to take them seriously.
I don't agree with the Save Wootton crowd but what do you have against parents with young kids advocating for what they want? Their families will be directly impacted (and I think they will be fine but they have a right to share their views)
Because why would you want your kids to go to a run-down, mold-infested school? You'd rather have your convenience than your kids' health? They have no clue and are selfish. Who knows if their kids will even go to Wootton? Most want a new school.
Lady I agree with you on this, but they have a right to their opinion and to advocate for what they want. Why would the fact they have young kids mean you take them less seriously?
I'm in the group of people opposing the Wootton move and despite finding the leaders of our group with younger children to be compelling and resourceful, they have been dismissive of the experience of current students, including my own, when they have failed to see the disproportionate harm of staying in our neglected building. Those of us with students there now or rising in the next one to two years recognize the severity in a way these parents do not. Certainly they are entitled to their beliefs and hopes but this is both a current and future problem with them only able to speak to the future.
