Yep this was the issue tonight

This meet had a lot of issues. Not allowing parents who paid to enter the bleachers because the host pool’s people failed to come to scan the codes so parents were standing in line for an hour at finals tonight was the worst one.
Standing an hour? Tonight? Not true. This was one of the better meets I have attended. It was very well run. Certainly better than IMX a few months ago.
The ticket said doors would open at 3pm. I went out walking, so I don't know exactly when they opened, but it was for sure after 4.
I think they adjusted the finals start time because prelims were delayed an hour due to the power outage.
You think wrong, they did not. There was a shorter break between prelims and finals, but they started finals as irondale scheduled and left parents standing in the hall for and hour.
No, finals was originally supposed to start at 4:30 and didn’t start until a little after 5.
Finals started exactly at 4:30 with the two fastest heats of the 1650 that were always scheduled to kick off finals.
This is a regular problem on Sundays at these meets. Distance events take up the first 40 minutes or so of the session and they don’t have timers because inexplicably the distance finals aren’t time your own swimmer. So they refuse to let people in. The parents of the swimmers not in the distance events aren’t necessarily there at the beginning, and the distance parents don’t want to time the whole session. God forbid you have a 5 minute break after distance to get the other timers in place. PVS really sucks at managing the volunteer timer issues.
The finals sessions were all timed by PVS officials. This was not a delay to get volunteers; the host club just wasn't there to check the tickets they made everyone buy.
