There is no longer a hometown newspaper in the city I grew up in.  For the first time students are scoring lower in every metric.

While murders have decreased petty crimes and quality of life crimes have greatly increased even if they aren't reported. There never used to be trash and people passed out all over parking lots and parks growing up, people begging and aggressive mentally ill people in every single neighborhood even middle class and affluent areas.
