My student is a straight A student and we still have AP teachers who don’t return essays in a timely manner. It’s not fair.
If that’s the worst thing happening in her and your life right now, you are blessed, indeed.
Touché. And if having a too much to grade is the worst thing in your life, consider yourself blessed.
Why are you trying to start a parent/ teacher conflict? Find a better way.
I simply stated it wasn’t fair for my child to not get back their grades in a timely manner. Someone (presumably a teacher) responded with if that’s the worst thing in your life, consider yourself blessed. I responded in kind. See how that works?
Retaliation? You just deepen the hurt. Be the better person.
You literally accused me of starting a conflict when I did nothing of the sort. The teacher started the conflict. lol. Can the teacher be a better person and not respond to my simple statement about grades without retaliation?
But the person responding isn’t the AP teacher you’re having a problem with. Take it to that teacher. There are many teachers on this forum and we are doing the best we can in an impossible situation. When you criticize our profession, we tend to get defensive because we work hard and we care. We have to be the better person all the time because both admin and students love to pin us as the problem. So yes, a teacher took too long getting a grade back to your child. Yes, that’s a problem and that’s unfair. But we also see the reason why: that teacher has to grade at home so they may have other circumstances (family, health) that have to come first. Not an excuse. Just reality.
I made one post and didn’t criticize the progression whatsoever. All I said was it isn’t fair for my child to not get feedback in a timely manner. 3 months is ridiculous. A simple response of “you’re right, it’s not,” would be appropriate. Instead I got, “if that’s the only thing bad in your life you are blessed.” I don’t see teachers trying to understand the parents’ view at all. And for what it’s worth, I was an FCPS teacher so I know what’s possible. And 3 months to get something back graded for anyone isn’t ok. Period. That’s a fact and that’s not “criticizing the profession.”
