It’s not profitable for the taxpayers who are paying for the detainment more than what would’ve been paid if an undocumented immigrant were actually free and working (contributing to the economy). Let’s say an undocumented did receive all the works (food stamps, section 8, cash assistance, Medicaid). That’s still less in taxpayer money than the cost of being in custody.[/quote]
