How long will you be comfortable with your child living at home searching for a specific type of job? Is it six months? A year? The clock is ticking and the economy isn’t getting better. Corporations are restructuring and instituting hiring freezes. Inflation is rising and compensation trends are flattening. AI currently seems like a new hire jolleystomper, but it will work its way up the org chart over time. There are also unemployed people with several years of work experience out there that are competing for the same jobs.

I know, I know, YOUR kid is going FAANG, IB, or Big Law. They are until they aren’t. All three have gone through layoffs in the last year. Either way my questions aren’t for you.

Have you asked your child if they would consider law enforcement? Do you think they understand how much they could make?
