The country has tens of millions of guns already in circulation. Banning them won’t do anything. The issue is institutionalizing these nut jobs and throwing away the key. Notice how mass shootings became a regular thing after Reagan opened the mental institutions? Attrocities like this didn’t happen in the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. Guns were around then too.

We need to commit way more people to mental asylums starting now or more children will die.

That's your opinion not a fact.  Australia removed guns from circulation in 1996 for all but law enforcement officials after a mass shooting and hasn't had a mass shooting since then.
