Taking care of your appearance isn’t fake. It reflects very real and important qualities, including respect for yourself and for others. If your partner (male or female) stops taking care of their appearance, that’s a real and unmistakable signal of how they regard themselves and you. In its extreme form, not attending to dress and hygiene is a symptom of mental illness, which is a real thing, not just them casting aside “fake” stuff.[/quote]
