Democrats push for immigration reform, amnesty now enforcement later. Then they will pass on the enforcement. Anyone who slips through, they will not deport.
Yes, this is exactly what happened in 1986, when Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act, granting amnesty to nearly 3 million undocumented immigrants. Democrats, led by Tip O’Neill, promised strong border security and employer sanctions to gain Republican support for the amnesty provision. However, Democrats failed to deliver on their promises. This fueled ongoing illegal immigration and conservative distrust in subsequent immigration reforms.
Both of our awful major political parties have had control of The White House and Congress numerous times over the past 3 decades and yet Congress has never come through with meaningful Immigration reform measures that would allow economic migrants to come here more easily to work legally or border security measures that would completely secure the border. Trump of course failed on his promise to build a wall after making that his number one campaign promise in 2016. It's almost as if our two major political parties prefer to keep the immigration/border security hot button issue in place for continued use as a tool to further divide the sheep..... hmmmmmmm... stop being their gullible sheep people..
Both parties are so disappointing. Why weren't the Cannabis farm supervisors /owners cited and/or arrested? Interesting how they donated money to different politicians over the past few years. If politicians can figure out how to have so many H1B visas for tech companies there is obviously a way to have legal immigration for agricultural workers and factory workers so that those workers aren't exploited. Having so many people who are undocumented leads to massive wage theft and deteriorating working conditions. Some of the working conditions are like Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. For example, the quartz counter industry is killing young immigrant men in California. This is an article from JAMA: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37486642/ Silicosis Among Immigrant Engineered Stone (Quartz) Countertop Fabrication Workers in California Silicosis associated with inhalation of respirable crystalline silica among engineered stone countertop fabrication workers is an emerging health concern. A study of 52 relatively young men (51 were Latino immigrants, median age 45) who worked making quartz counters found 20 (38%) patients had advanced disease (progressive massive fibrosis) with severely or very severely reduced forced expiratory volume 10 of these cases (19%) were fatal; median age at death was 46 (38-51) years 6 patients (12%) were alive with chronic resting hypoxia. 11 were referred for lung transplant: 3 underwent transplant with 1 fatality; 7 were declined transplant, with 6 fatalities; and 1 died prior to listing.
