Any truth to the rumors St. James is going to sue WLC?
For what exactly?
Maybe there’s a breach of contract..who knows. But stj was harmed by this. They sent out emails to their assn saying basically next year they were going to have major aaa, minor aaa, and aa at each level, and girls were positioning to move to aaa as well in 2026-27. All their upper a, Lower a, and b kids made plans to try out elsewhere. I firmly believe on the girls side they would’ve become the better aaa program within 2-4 years and pride would have a hard time competing for players with them. And on the boys side, with all the complaints about Tm and wlc, I’m sure they could do it better as well. IMO, the kids are the ones that lose in all of this and the dmv youth hockey community as a whole because there are no local programs where a kid with d1 potential can get there, like in Pittsburgh, Philly and nj. The tier I dad who sent his kid away is right. You can say stj facilities aren’t as much of a draw as I think or whatever, but i had kids play there and at 3 other local associations. It’s the most organized of the ones we’ve been at and its nice to not lean up against old ketchup on a Tuesday night after work like at Rockville or search frantically for a stall so the out urine all over the seats. I think they would’ve turned it into our version of pens elite or jr flyers. Instead wlc, tm, and pride get protected to continue to tread water for god knows how much longer.
It’s really very sad. The WLC players and parents also got jerked around. Some families were told things unofficially while others were completely left in the dark until it was too late for alternatives. The real losers - the kids who love hockey and want decent alternatives. And where is PVAHA in all of this? They appear equally incompetent and useless. It’s like the entire system needs to be dismantled and reworked from the bottom up but they will also find suckers chasing the dream. Parents of younger players can’t possibly imagine what they are getting their kids into with both of these Tier 1 organizations. It will take them a few valuable years and lots of money to figure it out and by then it will be too late.
