A Whitman neighbor told me over the weekend that classes this year are overcrowded because there is a program to bring students in from Baltimore. Is there any truth to that? I googled and didn’t find anything and it seems odd that there would be something outside the county. She said that most of her classes this year have about 30-35 kids in them.
Are they being bussed from Baltimore every day??
This isn't true. There are kids from outside of the zone who attend Whitman as part of a program called the Leadership Academy for Social Justice. These kids must live in the county and apply to the program. Its not making classes more crowded as its only 30 or so kids. But for some reason, it has definitely been scapegoated by many who know nothing about it as a source of problems.
