I'm a white immigrant from Europe and shower at least daily.  The only people who have bad hygiene are the English, Nordic cultures are very clean. IMO, Americans need to shower more often because of their size. Pretty much the entire nation is overweight and the sweat gets trapped in the fat rolls and smells. Also the quality of the clothes is abysmal. Combine polyester and plastic shoes with sweat and corpolence and you have an odor bomb.

Seriously? Get over yourself. Where are you from OP and are you generalizing your experience from your home country as some pan-European standard? Europe is not one giant Copenhagen.

My family also moved here from Europe. I'm a white American but lived in Europe for over a decade in my husband's country. [b]FWIW, I'm a US size 6 and not at all fat.[/b] In fact, most people where I live in Chevy Chase are not fat. I don't know many people in my neighborhood here wearing plastic shoes either. I cannot think of anyone I encounter in my daily life who smells bad.

I saw TONS of plastic shoes in Romania, Poland, and Ukraine though. And Portuguese men seem to think deodorant is optional.

Americans do NOT wear more fast fashion than Europeans. Zara is practically a uniform for young women in some European countries. Reserved, H&M, C&A, Bershka, Primark, and so many other European brands sell polyester crap. My experience is that Americans wear higher quality clothes generally as clothes are relatively cheaper here. [/quote]
