“I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” Kelce said. “And in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think it leads to discourse, and [don’t think] it’s the right way to go about things. In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. So I think bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule. It’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, even though I fell short this week. I’m going to do that moving forward and continue to do that.”
Not a football fan or a Swiftie, but this seems like a reasonable or even thoughtful response. More than I would have expected.
Exactly what I would have expected from him. Despite someone continuously calling him a drunken oaf or whatever, he presents himself as an incredibly nice guy and dedicated family man. He made a mistake. He owned it. It's exactly what I would have expected. I wonder why no one is calling for the idiot who used the slur originally to apologize. I get he's not famous, but he's famously on video slinging a homophobic slur, yet I have yet to see one post calling for him to publicly apologize. This is why most people are glad Jason Kelce gave it to him in whatever format he chose.
Any jackass using the word "faggot" should apologize. The original guy isn't off the hook, IMO.
Well only one has apologize thus far. And you're the first person I've seen actually acknowledge that the first guy isn't off the hook. But there's no hook. No one is holding him accountable, just whining about his phone being broken.
