Friend is basically broke but the relatives expected burial in a particular part of the Catholic cemetery, they expected bagpipes, they expected lavish flowers. She went into credit card debt for $12k and it took her 3 years to pay it off. These days an average funeral if you're doing a traditional version, embalming, casket, etc is $8k to $12k, some sources say 10 to 20k. This was one big public funeral with police motorcade and a private (But also big) funeral. [/quote]
