We don't like the service though.  The teams are dominated by non-resident elite freeloaders and the pools are like swimming in snot during the winter.

That is a long time for kiddos.  OOps sorry drive to Silver Spring they built two facilities there.  Keep in mind my daughter already missed out on a year and a half or two years of swimming from Covid.  Not just my kiddo either.  USA Swimming lost like 18,000 swimmers.  It was really obvious who was able to "get in" to the competitive programs early, because everyone else was high and dry.

Yeah, kids were wearing masks at school we didn't think to take her to the pool even if it were open.  Little kindergarteners, it was sad.  I hope that makes sense.  Clearly to the elites amongst us who were practicing at the pool nearly the entire time it doesn't.  We were hanging out at the park.  She could do monkey bars two by two forward and backward.  Skin-the-cats, German hangs etc.  I put up gym rings in our foyer.  Even then, I am not from around here so summer leagues are new to me.  I asked at KSAC about teams ("Did you try the stroke and turn clinic"), I met guy at the barber who does pool maintenance he said, "Get her on a summer league." See how hinky the elites are about their pools.  I was at the pool and asking about these things, and all they could say was take this class, which by the way won't even get you into RMSC.  So yeah, it took us two years to get back into swimming after Covid.[/quote]

Exactly.  You choose not to have her swim for a few years.   Other kids were better.  Put her in lessons 3-4 times a week so she can improve and stop being entitled.   Covid shut things down for six months.  Everyone took a break.  [/quote]

You must have missed the link above, this year's 8yo class is weak and for the most part they are all being locked out of USA Swimming clubs.  You can go duck duck it in Swim Swam 18,000 swimmers dropped.

That's not how I see it.  Many(most) were forced to take a break during COVID - but you are the one who lost focus here and took a too extended of a break that your daughter had to basically re-learn how too swim once you re-engaged again.  That completely on you - your fault and failure of imagination as to the possibilities of what was actually available were you so inclined.

The times that 7 and 8 year olds are posting do not support your supposition that "this year's 8yo class is weak" - their just isn't any difference between the current times and times from other years.

Yes the data supports it.  You can get the time trials for the 8u Rays.  2023 and 2024.  To make Division A A-Meets in 2023 you had to have a 20second 25meter freestyls.  In 2024 it dropped to 22 seconds.

No, the data do not support it -- you've conveniently plucked a small sub-set of data(kids and times) froom a limited time period(2023 and 2024) and that simply does not present any sort of minimal statistical rigor.

Some RMSC kids don't do summer team, especially as they get older as they work, are coaching, summer school, speciality camps and more.  Younger kids may not either.  Older kids in RMSC swim through July.

I did get the associate coach fired or at least demoted to lifeguard; it was kind of funny sitting there watch us do laps.  You know.  Picking on little kids isn't something you can get away with.  However, the tight knit swim culture is so spineless they have to look up to see pond scum, when it comes to standing up for their rights.  I think it is worth trying to go after someone a little higher up don't you think, someone with a little more responsibility.  Maybe one of the head coaches that oopsie daisy wasn't at the pool during the bullying incident.

So, in this instance, it appears the only way to go after these folks is to lobby to defund the whole thing.  Or is there some other mechanism to see to removing the coaches (not just the token scape goat associate)

I don’t think there is bullying. The family is basically blacklisted.

The diving block thing, which was LAST year, was not specifically targeted to just OP’s kid. It wasn’t as if everyone else in 8U dived from deck and OP’s kid was singled out. Since then, OP has a chip (or two) on his shoulder and RMSC is basically on his sh@t list.[/quote]

Many kids did dive from the deck instead or didn't dive at all, yet still made the team.  At least from what I saw in the observation window.  Also, many of the kids don't even do block dives at the mini competitions from what I hear, it's even in the promotional pamphlet.  If you can't block dive you can dive from the edge.  That particular coach was way off base.  The integrity of the tryouts reflects poorly on the quality of the individuals in the cult.  You know some kids made it and others didn't because of this practice.  I requested the numbers, but they refused and also didn't notify the other parents of the safety lapse.

None of the other RMSC sites used diving.  However, RSFC seemed to feel strongly they needed diving.  Maybe they were having them dive just for giggles.  My personal opinion is they were bullying her, trying to make her uncomfortable, then denigrating her when she made a mistake later in the tryout "ah we saw splash in the breaststroke" after she did a horrible belly flop off a block.  Why did they do that one last lap of breaststroke after the dives?  She had already done several laps of breaststroke that looked fine before the dive.  Then they had her dive off the blocks then more breaststroke.  Doesn't make any sense to me.

Again, all the other coaches staff broke their necks looking the other way.

What you have described is not bullying, especially because you are saying your daughter was not the only one at the Rockville site doing dives at the tryout. I also highly doubt they “denigrated” her so that she would be uncomfortable. I’m sure the feedback you are referencing was given in response to what I am also sure was an unhinged email from you demanding to know why she did not make the team. You can accuse club swim of a lot of things, but I have never seen or heard of bullying 7 year olds that are trying out. For the sake of your daughter, you really need to get a grip and take a huge step back from her extra-curricular pursuits. [/quote]

I didn't wait.  I filed the complaint to safe sport as soon as I saw that or at least within a day or two it just didn't seem right to me, especially considering none of the other sites had anything remotely like that.  Only later did find out wow that is really dangerous and they weren't following the protocol.  IMO the safe sport process of USA Swimming is very poor because they immediately put me in contact with RSFC rather than remediating it anonymously.

Let's just suffice it to say, that there isn't really anything that will convince or make RMSC parents and swimmers happy about that, and the way they are being viewed because the way their leadership is behaving.  Keep in mind though, RMSC parents pay those coaches private lessons to get into those teams.  This is what they pay for, this is what they want.  They want to say, look but our daughters can do racing dives and yours can't.  This may be the case, but the way they go about proving it doesn't garner any respect.  Now about defunding.[/quote]
