Any serious person knows that the solution to inflation is not outlawing high prices. That's like saying the solution to healthcare costs is outlaw people getting sick. Harris should have followed the old saying "it's better to be silent and have people think you are fool than to speak and remove all doubt."
? um no, that would be like saying we need to regulate healthcare costs, which ANY normal person would agree with.
It is scary people like you are allowed to vote. So the govt can print infinite amounts of money, the solution to controlling high prices resultant from that will be to install prices controls? JFC, please don’t reproduce. USA is going full blown Venezuela at this rate.
oh, so you're ok with high food prices now? And high healthcare costs?
It's YOUR POLICY that are creating high prices. Nothing skyrockets in price like a government subsidized industry. See health care and education.
I know it's easier to blame a liberal than understand why food prices are high right now. https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/why-are-groceries-still-so-expensive
Food prices are rising for several reasons, including ongoing supply chain issues, the smallest cattle inventory in 73 years, an Avian flu outbreak that affected poultry supply and sent the cost of chicken and eggs skyrocketing, and a worldwide grain deficit that is the result of the prolonged conflict in Ukraine. Wages for food service workers in grocery stores, warehouses and processing plants have also increased, meaning many of those businesses are passing that cost along to the consumer. Although some of these problems are finally clearing up, consumers looking for immediate relief may be disappointed. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said during an interview with "60 Minutes" that aired at the beginning of February that high prices could be here to stay unless there is a severe recession.
Pay attention to the bolded. Recall that MAGA say that illegal immigrants are taking jobs from Americans, and that if companies paid more, then Americans would take that job. You can see how wage hikes are hitting food prices.
The FEED for cattle and chickens has increased in price significantly. The fuel to plow and harvest and transport has increased significantly. The raw materials are jumping like crazy. The batteries in EVs are half of the cost of the car. A ford truck that was 40 grand four years ago is suddenly 70. DUHHHH! Why is auto insurance and homeowners insurance suddenly jumping up like crazy. Gee, I dunno! Labor is the significant component, but not the only one. Having Washington DC come in and direct everyone what they should pay for labor from ivory towers certainly does raise prices. Why did the Soviet Union collapse? Because Moscow tried to centrally plan (AKA a command economy) every GD thing in the country. It led to distortions, subsidies, rule by fiat and was very inefficient. Now you're telling me YOU can do it better. BS!
Yes, the price of EVERYTHING went up, in part due to the supply chain issues that hit globally. It wasn't just an issue in the US. So, you agree that the government today does regulate certain food prices, right? And those current regulations help farmers who are mostly in red states and who mostly vote R. But, regulation that helps the consumer is bad bad bad. The next time you MAGA insist that migrants are taking your jobs and that more Americans would take those jobs if they paid more, remember this post. Food prices went up in part due to wage increases. Also, the next time you complain about companies offshoring jobs, remember this post -- that government telling companies what to pay for labor is unAmerican and will lead to the collapse of the US, according to you.
No, they don't help farmers. They HURT them... which causes the farmer to react... which creates more unintended consequences which is like a vicious loop and you don't seem to get it. Your policies are creating the problems in the first place. I want migrants OUT. They don't belong here and they distort the market. I want all subsidies to end. Some white boy or girl in their house decides not to work because they're getting a check. Pull that check. Get hungry. You'll work. Got it now? Why do you think all the mom & pop stores went away? They were driven out of business by the big boxes thanks to Washington DC. Now there's no competition and of course prices are high! Same with Detroit and union labor. It artificially distorted the cost of labor, Asia saw that and took over. Same with airlines, steel, electronics, and on and on. The more you do, the worse things get! JFC, you are thick-headed.
+a million
