Are schools less safe than they were in the 90s? Real question here. I went to Blair, we had stabbings and one year a kid fell out of window in a fight. It didn't affect me - most kids just avoid and know how to avoid. I feel like the big change is the easy access to and proliferation of guns. The drugs and gangs were always here in big public schools.
I also went to Blair and agree— people have been complaining about safety issues/decline of quality/education/gangs at Blair since even before my time there. It’s kind of funny to see parents repeating the same complaints that people said in 2001. We also had fights/problems which did not affect 99% of the student population. The gun thing is new and definitely scarier; back in my day, it was knives.
