Let's cut the OP some slack. This clearly was not where the OP expected to be and is getting a lot of info. I know that dealing with an teenager who is overwhelmed is not an easy task. I can imagine raised voices, tears and someone who has shut down. I can not imagine a kid who "put the work in" to get a 3.7 uw/4.6 w and had great EC thinking that they had good targets only to find out that they didn't. With our adult brains - it is hard to deal with set backs and taking steps forward. With teen brain and teen social media (anyone watch testimony yesterday?) it is a very different situation.
I think the reason posters are concerned is that if OP and her DD act today -- 2/1--when a lot of great schools have their deadlines, their options are measurably better than if they don't.
Exactly. This is the day for music, snacks, and submitting applications since earlier applications didn’t turn out the way they wanted. There is still time to make other options and then there can be time to sulk/be mad/frustrated etc. This is also the time for the parent to explain that sometimes in life we have to pivot and it can be a good thing if you make the most of it!
