That is because there are a record number of people coming through our border.  One of the issues Biden campaigned on was softer and more porous borders, because (he explained) concerns about border security are based on racism. People got the message and once Biden took office, they swarmed the borders.

This isn't unlike the war in Ukraine. Russia amassed at the border and Biden was questioned about whether he would intervene if Russia invaded Ukraine. It depends, he explained, on whether it would be a minor incursion or a big invasion. As long as they only invaded a little bit, he told the entire world, we would not intervene.  Putin read this as a green light.

Biden goes around telling people we are weak and will not enforce anything. We won't enforce borders, we won't push back on Russia, we won't allow Israel to fully route out Hamas. When he projects American weakness, people see green lights. It's might riskier and more expensive to do clean up jobs-- deporting people, military aid to Ukraine, etc-- than to simply project strength and deter these kinds of events from happening to begin with.
