The silence from the Board of Education on this is deafening. A complete embarrassment. New article today from MoCo360 detailing responses from those within the County who actually care: https://moco360.media/2024/01/17/mcps-school-board-silent-as-moco-leaders-pta-teachers-union-call-for-accountability/?utm_source=MoCo360&utm_campaign=4ff47e76ad-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2023_011724&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-ff9e6fedd5-%5BLIST_EMAIL_ID%5D&mc_cid=4ff47e76ad&mc_eid=db8dfadb1d
Not much more new here other than the County Council doubling down on how MCPS needs to rebuild trust and be accountable. The silence from MCPS leadership and the BOE is the most telling. What a corrupt, failed school system we have.
They'd been quite transparent and open about all this. I'm not sure where you're getting all this hate from.
They have literally refused comment on the report and allegations from Khalid Walker. What are you talking about?
As you'd know, the county's attorneys discourage public comment when there's an ongoing investigation.
The same attorneys who took the investigative report out of Walker’s hands because he refused to doctor it up and then did the re-write themselves in order to absolve the newly promoted principal so that their boss doesn’t look bad? You know as well as I do that the BOE is not prohibited from commenting. Just like they could have released much more of the heavily redacted report. Just like they could have been much more transparent with the county council when they were dragged before the council to figure out what the heck is going on. As Councilmember Friedson said: “With regard to the public information act, I just need to be very clear: This is a law that is intended to promote public transparency, not prevent it,” Council Vice President Andrew Friedson (D-District 1) said. He echoed calls from his colleagues to release the full report. “I think the trust in your ability to look into these matters is reliant on everything being shared, unless there is a compelling specific legal reason why it can’t.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2023/09/28/montgomery-council-mcps-mcknight-beidleman/
