One reason people may be reacting so strongly to her in particular (instead of if someone else posted it) is because apparently she wrote a book called “purple,” in which she describes the necessity of making a point in surrounding one’s self with diversity. She apparently claims that she makes a point to do this for her children, too. Not sure if the above is true or not.
The book is not "purple." It's titled "The World Needs More Purple People." It's a children's book. At least be accurate with one part of your post, please. And how is she supposed to make a point of surrounding herself with diversity when she is the guest and not the host? Should she, should we all, insist that hosts give us guest lists to inspect before we condescend to attend events, so we are not exposed to (gasp!) a less that perfectly diverse group at someone else's event? (Not that I'm blaming the host. I just don't get what any guest is supposed to do in this circumstance, according to those of you so enlightened that you feel you can criticize who people's friends are.) Oh, yeah, and this, a point worth making again though it was made earlier: The Asian people present at this event do not count as diversity to you--??
