Marxism predates communism, yet the lwnjs on here doesn't know the difference... Marxism is an economic and political theory that examines the flaws inherent in capitalism and seeks to identify an alternative, which he called "utopian socialism." Marxist theories were influential in the development of socialism, which requires shared ownership by workers of the means of production. Communism outright rejects the concept of private ownership, mandating that "the people," in fact the government, collectively own and control the production and distribution of all goods and services. Those on the left want communism, not a constitutional republic.
The funny thing is that I'm pretty sure the comment you're replying to is a right winger trying to imply that the "authoritarians" are the "socialist" Democrats. The funnier thing is you're right, the commenter has no idea about the difference as right wingers simply call anything they don't like "communist" or "socialist." The absolutely hilarious thing is that I very well could be wrong because the level of discourse is so ridiculous that it could go absolutely either way depending entirely on the biases of the reader. But the real side splitter is the fact that you're somehow informed enough to know and accurately describe the differences between Marxism and Communism and yet so incredibly brainwashed and obtuse that you actually think the Democrats want communism or marxism despite the fact that absolutely no Democrat with any whiff of power has ever even suggested anything remotely resembling adopting either.
Au contraire, you cosmopolitan liberal elitist! Expanding the child tax credit, reducing emissions, and negotiating prescription drug prices are absolute hallmarks of communism. Geez, read a book!
