Why does pride in ownership have to mean no weeds?

The inside of my home is spotless, we have no trash in our yard, the shingles are painted.  I don't find weeds offensive, and don't want to use herbicides/pesticides/fertilizers.  I feel it's better for the environment.  I have weighed the pros and cons of using that crap and decided against it.  Don't assume that people who have weeds have no 'pride in ownership'.[/quote]

There's a difference between "overgrown with weeds" and having a natural lawn.  The difference is mostly in whether you mow regularly.  From the street, a well-mowed natural lawn doesn't look bad at all.  You literally have to be standing on the lawn to see that it is largely weeds.  If someone is standing on my (or PP's) lawn, they have no right to complain about the view.[/quote]
