I saw a 60+ year old wearing a Michigan sweatshirt today. Should he not be allowed to because it might make OP’s child upset???
People are having a surprising amount of difficulty distinguishing between (1) an individual person choosing to wear a specific sweatshirt, and (2) an official school event where people are supposed to wear specific sweatshirts.
It’s not an official school event! It’s organized by the senior class, not the school administration. And no one has to participate.
It's organized by the senior class? Like, a bunch of seniors said, "Hey, let's do this on May 1!"? Or is it an SGA event?
"Organized" is too strong of a word. As a PP said, May 1 is NATIONAL college decision day. Seniors across the country have been marking this day by wearing their college's gear for decades, including in MCPS. In past years, this didn't even need to be communicated because the kids just knew from the previous year's seniors.
The OP said, "Dumb place sent out a notification for kids to wear their college sweatshirt to school on May 1st." which sure sounds official.
