I was completely unoffended by this incident. He gave Thomas the tampon after he outdrove Thomas (he is 18 years older than Thomas). Was it crass and frankly stupid, yes, but I’m not offended. Men and women drive off of different tees becuase of the difference in strength and the distance they get off the tee, so that’s why he was doing “you drive like a girl” schtick. [/quote]

I’m not the PP but you are taking this way too seriously. In the context of professional golfers, yes women and men play from different tees because men outdrive the women. It is not some affront to women everywhere to acknowledge that. Sure, he could have motioned to the women’s tees instead, but instead he handed him a tampon, whatever. Let’s be real you would have been offended by him motioning to the women’s tees too. [/quote]

NP. Youre not the cool girl. You're making excuses for a grown man who holds sexist beliefs and results to sexist tropes as a cutdown for his friend. His joke was more than crude, esp. when you consider his full history (cheating on his wife, prostitutes, substance abuse). He thinks his male sh-- doesn't stink and it shows.

I’m Phyllis-and thank you for proving my point! This thread isn’t about his past. It’s about the joke he made. Nobody is trying to say he didn’t make poor choices in his past. But I just cannot get worked up about a crude tampon joke, and you humor crusaders need to calm down. You can screech all you want, but there will always be people in the world, both men and women, who appreciate crude or perverse humor. Of course you can separate the joke from his past. You would be complaining about the joke regardless of who said it, based on your own admitted distaste for sexist humor. I simply disagree and don’t share your tastes.
