Smoke monitors, yes.

I think you'll run into a shit ton of privacy issues and lawsuits with cameras in the bathroom, even in the public parts of the bathroom. So I'm not sure it's worth the political capital to fight for that right now. If the situation doesn't improve, then yes. But there's gotta be a really high bar to justify that.[/quote]

Couldn’t they put cameras up in the hallway pointed at the bathroom door so that they could watch who was entering and exiting the bathroom.  If there are multiple people in the bathroom it might be difficult to know which was smoking/vaping, but if they analyze multiple occurrences they should be able to narrow it down. [/quote]

That they can and I believe they already do?

The thing is, MCPS is rightfully coy about saying WHERE they have cameras in place because they don't want to alert bad-behaving students who'll then use that info to do things where there aren't cameras.[/quote]
