I'm LOLing at the poor DH who thinks he deserves a 15 minute commute to Tyson's.
PP didn’t say he thought he deserved it. But there are plenty of small houses in awful condition nearby going for more than a million and that’s absurd. He has every reason to be disgruntled with that. Maybe he’s been commuting for 25 years already and regrets spending so much of his life in the car. It’s stupid that a cheaply made 60s ranch in original condition costs too much for a full time professional. We are also looking in that area and the new condos are asking Manhattan prices. Stupid.Tyson’s is not Manhattan . But foreign money will buy them up as fourth homes, party pads for their kids, and business expenses, inflating housing costs for those of us who actually live and work here. Stop blaming people for wanting quality of life where they live and work and notice there’s a problem in the housing market.
A family of four getting cheeseburgers and fries at gross Five Guys could easily spend $70 just for lunch. What do you think SFHs directly adjacent to one of the largest job centers in the country should cost in that type of environment? If OP's priority is commute, than buy according to that priority! Stop whining. For other people, priority may be to own a SFH. They're willing to drive or take the bus for a bit. OP's husband is not. https://www.redfin.com/VA/McLean/1641-International-Dr-22102/unit-108/home/9387190
