Very funny. You think so because you’ve seen the name Gideon before. I can assure you more than 60% of the people reading it in their heads still are saying it wrong. My niece’s name is Riki and is NEVER pronounced right. My friend’s last name is Carlyle and he’s always referred to by Mr. Carly. of They’re struggling with Zanab’s name. Are you really saying people are not allowed to go by nicknames?[/quote]

I have a ton of severe learning disabilities and barely graduated from high school. I'd pronounce Riki like it rhymes with tiki hut. I don't know what's wrong with people not being able to pronounce Carlyle - maybe they're just rushing+stupid,?  A friend of mine named Wendy told me people have a lot of trouble with her name too.  I can pronounce people's names, because I listen and try. I ask when I need to. Sikiru really just isn't difficult. It's unfamiliar, but it's not hard to make the sounds that make up that name at all. [/quote] NP here.
