I was at Georgetown in the 70s - a long time ago - so take this story with a grain of salt. But I went there to study in what was then a separate language school (which seemed so cool at the time) and I was an atheist. I ended up moving to the College and majoring in theology (a required course at GU along with philosophy) because I learned that religion was really about creating cultural symbols to understand and get closer to a feeling of sacredness. (My theology profs were pretty progressive!) I realized that I had assumed I was an atheist because I didn't fit into any mainstream religions. So, still not a Christian, but not an atheist either. But yes I don't know if I would encourage my kid to go to a different Catholic school. [/quote]
