So what are Shia’s receipts?
https://people.com/movies/shia-labeouf-says-he-quit-dont-worry-darling-wasnt-fired-by-olivia-wilde/
Ehhhhh. Shia LaBeouf has every motivation in the world to make himself look better in this situation. It's practically right there in the article:
I know that you are beginning your press run for DWD and that the news of my firing is attractive clickbait, as I am still persona-non-grata and may remain as such for the rest of my life
Shia LaBeouf is worried about never working again. And what Wilde actually said about him is:
I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work," she said. "His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require a combative energy, and I don't personally believe that is conducive to the best performances." Wilde continued, "I believe that creating a safe, trusting environment is the best way to get people to do their best work. Ultimately, my responsibility is to the production and to the cast to protect them. That was my job.
She never said anything about his behavior that is some feminist warrior thing. Variety implied that because they note that AFTER he was fired from Don't Worry Darling he was sued for sexual battery. I'm not surprised that the director of a film tried to work this out and sent that video message to one of her leads. It doesn't mean she didn't fire him later. Sorry, I'm not accepting the Shia LaBeouf version of events here.
But dcum hates women so we get this misogyny every single time.
I think two things can be true at once: 1) Shia is a terrible person who is also leveraging this for PR 2) Olivia misrepresented what went down in order to make herself look good and it backfired
