That’s ridiculous.  Striving for continuous improvement of our republic is the most patriotic act of all.  To demand that we uphold the values and ensure the freedoms and rights of Americans extend to all Americans is what makes the United States the most powerful country in the world.  It is only those of us who have confidence and patriotism who can freely admit that we don’t exemplify perfection yet.

I agree that the left should be more clear that pointing out the country's flaws is not done out of hate. Loyalty doesn't mean pretending everything is perfect. We should always be striving to do better, and we can't do better if we don't know where the problems are.[/quote]
