It would be bizarre if STA did not take into account the views of an applicant's current school when evaluating his application, just as any school would. The idea that Beauvoir does not have "any say at all" about who STA admits is simply wrong. It may have no more say about who STA admits than it does about who GDS or Maret admit, but to argue it has no say defies reason.

I can assure you that there are kids that Beauvoir recommends accepting that STA turns down, and kids that Beauvoir is not enthusiastic about that are admitted (to borrow a PP's phrase, there've been some "shockers" on both sides of the ledger in my kids' years.) It's clear that STA makes its own decisions, but it would be--as you put it--"crazy" to think that STA pays no attention to the views of a boy's current school (be it Beauvoir or someplace else) when it evaluates applicants.
