If I hear Fruman talking again about bringing ice hockey to ward 3 I'm going to scream. That guy is either completely out of touch or just tries to appease the special interest in front of him. Someone must be screaming loudly about ice hockey but really, I expect someone running for council to recognize that this is not a district wide issue.
Shouldn’t a council member be concerned about and represent their ward’s particular interests? He’s not running for the at-large seat.
I’m pretty sure there a small but growing hockey parent constituency in Ward 3 that don’t want to schlep all the way to Montgomery County for ice time. Couldn’t be more than a few hundred votes but surely nearly all of them live in Ward 3.
Frumin talked about both supporting ft Dupont and also bring a sheet of ice to Friendship Heights. It is on his website and has been since a couple of months ago.
Any place in Ward 3 big enough for an ice rink would be better utilized as a new public school.
Keep pining for affordable housing. It ain’t gonna happen, especially in Ward 3, unless the DC government significantly increases the set-aside requirements imposed on developers, requires them to pay into an affordable housing fund, and spends $$ to build on land that the District already owns. Look at Cathedral Commons, City Ridge, the Marriott Wardman development, Upton Place, etc. The Urbanists keep telling us that we have to have more, more, more! density, but even the largest projects yield a paltry amount of “inclusionary zoning” units - which are not even affordable housing. It’s all a smoke screen to allow more market rate apartments and condos in the most profitable locations for developers. The “Smart Growth” lobby must take us all for dumb. Frumin's ice rink support should be a red flag for anyone who wants affordable housing in Ward 3
