The city put up the stop sign.  The stop sign is the sign that you are supposed to stop.  The fact that you don't think a stop sign indicates "make a full stop behind this white line" and instead you need a sign ON THE STOP SIGN saying "you're supposed to stop here" just means you're a bad driver, it doesn't mean there's a nefarious scheme at work to trick you out of your ticket money.[/quote]

Cyclists are pushing the city council to make it legal for them to blow stop signs. They even have an Orwellian euphemism for ignoring stop signs. They call it an “Idaho stop.”
