They've tried that for decades and it hasn't worked. Even assuming that it was possible, FCPS doesn't have anything approaching the budget that it would take to bring a kid with uneducated parents who don't care about education up to par with a kid whose parents hold graduate degrees and who expect their child to follow a similar path and know what boxes need to be checked along the way. Nor is it the county's job. I'm all for providing broad opportunities to all children and am not clear that a school like TJ is in the best interest of FC residents. They could provide similar opportunities at local schools and serve more students. I love that these programs exist so that students who want a deeper education have that option, but TJ only serves a small fraction of the population. I also believe anyone should be allowed to participate and be allowed to fail even. [/quote]
