I have to say yes.  It's actually quite exhilarating to be with someone who knows you for who you really are.  Putting yourself out there feels risky and dangerous and it gives me a high similar to what I think you're experiencing with your lover.  I've consistently been suprised at my husband's ability to accept whoever it is I am in a particular moment over the course of our 11 monogamous years.  Guess I'm lucky that I get the whole package without having to hurt anyone.  And, whether you believe it or not, you are hurting your family.
