Interesting point. My H comes from a family where 6-8 kids is the norm; he's the youngest of 7.

It sucks. Our kid is something like the 35th grandchild so literally no one cares about her. No one came to visit when she was born. Her grandparents have never come to visit her, so she's only met them a couple times and they're pretty uninterested at this point. All her aunts and uncles have their own mess of kids to worry about so they aren't interested. There's this huge extended family that all live within a 4 hour drive, and we barely ever see any of them. It's a problem when you literally cannot remember the names of your cousins, nieces, and nephews because there are so many.

Meanwhile in my family, people have 0-2 kids, and we're all very close despite being 2000 miles apart. My family comes out to visit regularly, they FaceTime with us, send gifts for DD, have pictures of her in their homes, they actually care. There's a much higher quality of relationship, we don't just say hi at the holidays and then forget about each other the other 364 days of the year. [/quote]

I’m one of four, and I have four kids. I’m very close with my siblings. Very close.

I have a BIL from a family of eight. He vacations with most of his siblings and their kids each year. Multiple vacations at each others vacation homes. Plus big holidays. [/quote]
