Who said there was? We're talking about football in 2021, not WWII. Opening up a historical Pandora's box with regard to sporting events is a futile exercise. The British Empire has quite a lot of blood on its hands, too; there are no good guys there either, just more or less recent bad guys. I hate England because of England fans and English sports media, not because I have a soft spot for Benito Mussolini, nor do I hold the 2021 Italian soccer team responsible for what their great-grandparents may or may not have been involved in 80 years ago. Or Toni Kroos responsible for his dead relatives, or Alvaro Morata as a reflection of Francisco Franco, or anybody else. Historical rabbit holes just don't work in sports.[/quote]
