A couple of loose pitbulls ran towards the children, and this brave 12 year old stepped in between them and the dogs, so the little ones would have a chance to run for safety. The dogs mauled his leg so badly, it looked to the other children like "guts were coming out of his leg." The child was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery to reconstruct his leg. He is now home on crutches, and faces a long recovery while his parents deal with huge medical bills.

Maybe the owners of these pitbulls don't have their own children, but that sure didn't protect the children in the neighborhood. Zero mistake dogs, dogs that are likely to maul or kill a child if you accidentally drop a leash or they slip out the front door, have no place in society, even if the owners themselves do not have children.
