Sorry AFT comms consultant. Your clients lost a massive amount of political support and irreparably harmed their most natural allies (parents). I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had with other parents that go “I’m a life long Democrat but I will never support teachers’ unions again.” You can pretend that that’s Betsy Devos speaking, but really, you’re going to have to internalize that your actions did more to hurt your cause than anything Republicans could have done. As for “shock,” save that for the topsy-turvy situation where teachers and Democrats are trying to claim the moral highground for **keeping kids out of school** and doing grave harm to a generation of school kids and turning the achievement gap into a canyon.
